Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Diary Of A Folk Witch, a living witchcraft platform for ALL!
Are you looking to learn more about British and Irish folk witchcraft, folklore and modern wise folk skills, but not entirely sure where to start?
Perhaps you’re new to your path and looking to explore it further in a safe and informative environment? Or maybe you’re an experienced Occultist and looking to find genuine content on Folk Witchcraft that is neither ‘fluffy’ or watered down?
Well, you have come to the right place!
My name is Zanna, and I gladly invite you to join me on my path as a Folk Witch, Wise Woman and Priestess, living in the North of England.
Here, I will share with you my life as a wise woman and doula, the folkloric and herbal research I carry out, along with my folk witch practices.
Through a blend of informative posts and diary entries, I open the door that welcomes you into my very own world of every day authentic folk witchery, herbalism, and the study of native folklore.
On this site, I primarily discuss practices related to my own region of the North West of England (particularly, Lancashire). However, I do also branch further afield to the rest of Britain, and at times also, Ireland. As much of my family are from Ireland, I am a student of Gaeilge (Irish language), work closely with the goddess Brigid, and also hope to move back to Ireland, with my family one day.
Therefore, Irish culture, history and spirituality also features heavily within my personal practice.
My work covers some of the following topics:
Diary Of A Folk Witch Entries.
Folk Witchcraft.
Divination.
Spirits of the land.
Connecting with ones own local landscape and its history.
Folklore of Britain and Ireland.
Ancestral Veneration.
Animism.
Kitchen Witchcraft.
Folk Ways & Urban Homesteading
Herbs, Healing, Foraging And Plant Lore.
Spells, workings and rituals.
Witchcraft History.
As well as this, I often hold talk and workshops, both in person and online!
It is my sincere hope that you enjoy exploring this website, podcasts, the YouTube channel, and also through my articles (which can be found in Pagan Dawn magazine) while walking through the world of modern Folk Witchcraft with me.
Through the time, mists, and distance between us, blessings from me to you.

The Witch’s Altar- Musings Of A Modern Folk Witch.
Today I am gazing upon my altar and thinking about all of the beautiful complexities of it. My altar is not just a place where I go to perform workings (or spells);I can perform magickal workings anywhere. In fact, quite often workings occur in my kitchen, garden or out in the wilds of the woods,

When we think of Witchcraft and folk magick, many an image may fill the imagination. For some, the image may be that of a very stereotypical fairy tale Witch, complete with conical hat, hooked nose, warts and a broom stick; uttering curses over a bubbling cauldron. Others may see something akin to Hollywood movies, where
